RENOVATING EXISTING WALLS

It was time to take away the old tapestry from the walls and renovate it. It was mostly impossible to paint over the old one. The glue wouldn't hold, so we bought a renovating tapestry to put over the existing walls. The result is astonishing, like you would have put up a brand new wall. Very good also as an extra isolation.

So here the before and after

Electricity step 1

A professional electrician was called to prepare the cables inside the walls before closing them forever.
After that we closed with a wooden wall and a plaster wall on both side, which gives you a real wall at the end.

NEW ROOMS

Before we bought the house, the most important thing was that we were able to could rent out a part to students. Gothenburg has an extremely need of rooms for students. It is very very hard to get apartments especially if you are a foreigner.
When we saw this beautiful little house in Bergsjön (outside the centre of Gothenburg, but still belonging to Gothenburg commun) we really wanted to have it. All our ideas of making it what we wanted it to be, was fullfilled. We only had to make som renovating works downstairs.
We would live on the first floor with a separate entrance.
Downstairs there was a little room (office), a bathroom and a big room with a door to the garden.
We wanted to built a wall in this big room and make it a bigger sleeping room and a kitchen/dinner room/entrance hall.

We started by building a woodden structure and add woodden panels on both side.

Between the wooden walls we filled with fiberglas isolation to reduce noice between the rooms.

A NEW KITCHEN

A new kitchen will be born, of course from IKEA

Kåre is preparing the ground to put up the basement elements for the kitchen. The old owners had some wardrobes standing here, which are very useful, but we want to make this part of the house useful for students so that they are able to cook food and of course for our future guests as well.

Here the prepared holes where to lead the waterpipes coming from the bathroom on the other side (cold/warm) and the drainpipe for the kitchen basin. Kåres nicely calculations on the wall.

A half day later, the first elemens of the kitchen are standing.

NAME

Nameless......we bought in november and started renovating the ground floor to be able to rent it out to students during the school time and to make a B&B during the summer month. Until today we are nameless for how the B&B should be named.
It should be from Bohuslän...theme will be one room made of ocean/boat style and the other romantic (Evert Taube inspired from the island Malö). But hey the rooms are up in Bergsjön (not very close to the ocean). So, I officially open a contest for the best name for our B&B

The vinner will get a small surprise!!
